Hi,

I appreciate that the following isn't what's usually posted on the forum but, given the subject, I hope for the indulgence of the mods, and there is MB-related content.

Yesterday, despite being a Tuesday, was a very bad 13th for me. :( The van I was driving was stolen while I was at the back getting the stuff out for a client. :( I know this is a very long shot, but ...

Firstly, I'm trying to find anyone who was on the A13 or A1306 around the junction where they meet (just west of M25 J30 and J31 with those roads) at about 1230 and saw a white MB Sprinter (with red & blue company logos), possibly with the rear doors open and flapping around (that's the way I saw it last :( ). The van was stolen from the Purfleet Industrial Estate which is right by that A13/A1306 junction and *now* I know several vehicles have been stolen from there recently (even though it's supposed to be more secure than usual, with just one entry/exit road, security, cctv, etc. ).

Secondly, I appreciate that the van could be pretty much anywhere, especially given the road links from where it was stolen. So, its a MB Sprinter lwb, AY03 MMV, white, with the company logo 'Britsales' and 'not always stationery' picked out in red and blue.

Also, it appears that the thief arrived with two others in a silver Mini, LM52 JUA - the cctv at least got that, and it leaving behind the van. And I got a good look at the thief, as he drove the van 'round the block to the estate exit while I was able to run straight there.

Any info. you can pm or e-mail me, or 'phone Essex Police on 01245 491491, though I have to say the latter's performance was less than sparkling (despite being made aware that I was happy to do a description, there was cctv footage saved by the security guard and the van had a built-in 'phone, an hour-and-a-half after the incident, "an officer had not been allocated" ).

Regards,

Regards,

IMO, I fear that it is lost for good. In a matter of hours, it will have been stripped down, the parts put into a container and then shipped off to an African State.

The 'Police' are not in the least bit interested if: a) No-one was hurt or injured and b) They was no revenue able to be generated. They would prefer NOT to respond, as their 'solved crime' figures would be adversely impacted.

Bad luck.

p.s. We have lost 2 vehicles to this type of theft. Neither were ever recovered.

Sad, but true, the police aren't in the slightest interested - they know the insurance company will pick up the tab and ultimately all of us that pay insurance will see our premiums got up - funny though the police seem to have unlimited resources when it comes to parking on the roadside holding a speed camera :mad::mad:

Very true - but camera's generate INCOME. How else are the Schools, NHS, Social Services etc etc going to get more more money to pay for the ever-increasing numbers of so-called 'asylum seekers', illegals and so on?? Off topic - I'm sorry. But it makes me MAD

Agree entirely - it's called "indirect taxation" and sadly it's getting worse :-:)-(

And it going to get worse - which is the main reason that we have sold up, and bought a house in Spain. We leave the UK in January.!!

Good for you, :D - we live in Virginia Water (close to you) and are thinking of doing the same at some time:cool::cool:

Don't give up just yet. It is more likely that it's parked up somewhere for a week with the battery disconnected, just in case it has a tracker. If it's not found in the next week though, it's probably gone for good, but of the last few vehicle thefts I've been aware of, 2 turned up within a week and the last one has never been seen since. They commonly nick vans for the contents so there is a chance of finding the empty van abandoned.

They may want it to do a job with, so to speak, it could show up, its almost as though this one was taken to full fill an order for one.

Sorry to hear the news
