Stop Start restarts but stops and im stuck at lights for 10 minutes ,,Help

so the eco button on my w212 is green the engine switches off at the lights and then as I remove foot from brake it restarts but almost immediately stops again and clock starts reversing on dash .im not able to restart the car and im stuck at the lights for 10 minutes
after 10 minutes it will restart as normal until following time. this has caused me some really embarrassing moments.replaced the auxiliary battery but there has been no change ..
when it happens ive noticed that if I let the clock spin until it stops ..about two minutes ..im able to restart it..if I try and restart it while clock is spinning it locks out for at least 5-10 minutes and if I try to restart too much it just seems to keep me locked out until I wait the 5-10 minutes

Have you checked the voltage on the main battery it should be 12.6V ideally if the voltage drops below 12.4V it can lead to spurious faults MBs don’t like undercurrent batteries

Malcolm 210 has it nailed on. The eco button usually lights up green all the time on mine , it's the dash light that turns from amber to green. The clock rewinding indicates either loose fitting terminals or the battery is about goosed.

Ain't modern tech great!!! Trying to understand clock v starting?? Cud that be a front Sam error. Best have codes read.

you can not switch it off unless you do that every time you start the car..sometime we forget. both batteries have been replaced but it shouldn't go green on the dash if it is underpowered and it starts right up after stop ,just stops again so unlikely to be battery ..I will check its resting charge tomorrow one more time

That's what most of us do. Other than removing the 7.5 amp fuse near the aux battery if it's there, and no dash errors flag up with it removed .

Do you have modes like S, C , Eco and I*, if you have I* it will switch stop/start off for the rest of the day, so you only have to do this once every day.

I just start turn that off its auto reflex and I manage to do that 99% of time

so your telling me that most of of you have this problem.......and others on this thread saying its a weird fault like they have never heard of this fault before ...? carnt be right ,sounds like someones guessing here?

No I'm telling you most switch stop start off and don't use it.

you have to turn it off every time you get in the car ..there is obviously a fault here. im not interested in switching it off.I want to fix the ****** thing..if no one else has suffered this exact issue im surprised. I don't want my wife getting stuck at the lights again...

Think you need the main battery examined or a garage to find out what's wrong. Your issue is the first I've heard in years .

It's second nature. Get in car, start engine, turn off stop/start, select gear etc., It's a temp solution for you but most of us do it automatically to save engine component wear...
