Strange Warm start issue.

I'm having an issue with a 92 300TE.
The issue presents itself when I let the car sit for a few days. (Driving daily, the issue seems not present)
She fires up from cold without hesitation, however if I shut down the motor before it gets "Hot" [Drive for at least 15 min] then it will not start for at least an hour. After that hour, things seem good again.
I occasionally get-what I think is -a backfire while turning it over trying to start.

Unfortunately, this problem isn't isolated to shutting the motor off when not hot, It will die on me if I'm not driving on the highway no high revs (until it gets hot).

I've taken the Idle speed valve out and checked it's function. Looks good, clean, opens and closes nicely.

Anyone have Ideas?

My issue sounds very similar to another thread posted today.
I do have a dizzy cap, it's dry and looks good.
It hasn't been changed for a while though, so maybe the connections aren't so strong.
The thing is, the car runs good when it's nice and hot etc, so it seems strange that there would be a spark issue for that short period of time when the car is warming up.

next step is to check the sensors. I like your idea to short them out. I'll replicate the problem, short out the sensors and see what happens.

Still no resolution to this one. The cold start injector is not leaking, Idle speed air valve working to spec, coolant temp sensor working.
There are a few threads on this problem out there.
The motor seems to run rich, then die, and won't start for 1 hr. After that hour, she fires up again and works good.
