I'll get them ordered and sent to me, then pop one in the post to you. Once you work out what's what and you're happy it's working, you can send me a cheque. I'll cover postage from me to you in return for your invaluable help !

No arguments ;)

Nb No SL reversing cameras yet, they'll advise when they're in.

Thank you,, These use F connectors, so I will make up some short leads,,2 for you and 2 for me.

The power will have to come from the center console, and from the cigar lighter, it could come from a spare fuse in the rear box, but so much work to get to it.

I will print off this evening the instructions for the center console remove,,its dead simple

I too am relaxed - currently touching in 60 odd stone chips with 2 layers of paint, sanded flat with 2000 wet & dry, then touched up with lacquer, sanded flat, then 3000 wet & dry followed by an orbital polish.

Time consuming, but incredibly satisfying and done properly, you wouldn't have known there were any there to start with.

Malcolm - the DVB-T units have arrived ! They're a great looking piece of kit and the instruction manual is very well written.

Can you email me your address and I'll get one in the post to you. Haven't got your email at work I'm afraid.

Cheers

Jonny

To get a switched live feed you take it from the cigar lighter.

Using a flat blade and with both front seats as low as they will go prise out the side panel as in the small picture.

lever up the gear shift boot and pull it up and over the gear shift knob, undo the collet nut on the bottom of the knob a ½ turn and pull the knob up and off keeping your chin well clear.

Remove the 3 screws each side,, these are the screws that are recessed 30mm long and not the ones that you can see. Remove the ashtray, and starting from the rear lift the cover up and it will lift off and you can just put it to one side while you splice with a connector into the live feed on the lighter.

The wire to the rear will push back under the glove box and you can giggle it through. this lead must have an in line fuse.

I will cover the rear section tomorrow .

To get the wire all the way through from the front might be easier to push the wire up under the edge of the center console but you still need to get it to the TV

Pull the plastic sills up and off.
Remove the corner covers of the rear side trim with the 6 screws.
Do not just pull the side panels out,,use a flat screwdriver to prise the clips out from the steel side or they will break.
Remove the 4 screws holding the back cover in.
open the CD compartment lid and insert a torx socket and undo the two screws accessible through the 2 small round holes in the rear of the boxes, do not take them out, remove the two screws at the front of the CD box and the box now lifts up and the center rear of the arm rest is now free so that you can get the wire through.

Lot of work but no other way

Good stuff - should I feed the remote "eye" through there whilst I have the console apart ? Thinking of locating it in the ashtray. I assume it will pick up the remote in there ?

The easiest way for the remote is to run the thin wire along under the carpet of the passenger sill, take it up the front of the door under the drought excluder and stick it under the passenger kick panel,,this enables easy use of the remote and you just point it to that corner

Good thinking - I'd normally point the remote at the unit, whatever it is as a matter of habit and that location is in the direction of the COMAND screen from the driver's seat. Let me know when your tuner arrives !

Thanks it came this morning,,, that brings me to the aerial plugs.

The antenna's that come with the units have nice F connectors on them,, the best bet is to cut off the wire about 10" long, and splice the wires to the ones in the car.

The reason I say this is because if I make them up, I can only use standard coax as the center core is the center pin, and the wire is very thick and heavy.

I can take some pictures of how to join the cables if you wish,,there is a technique to it
