A class premium plus
Hello,
Sorry I am new to mercedes benz and I was hoping someone could help me regarding text messaging.
Will a premium plus model let you see text messages as standard or do you need a specific additional pack please?
Many thanks

You should be able to see them, welcome !
If I remember correctly you have to enable via your phone - you should also have the option to have them read to you

Thank you!
It's an amg line premium plus, I'm so excited! But just worrying as didn't check about the text messaging. I tried an executive but I believe it had advanced connectivity, so I don't know if the access and reading and replying to the text message via the mbux interface came with that or was standard.
I've tried YouTube and looking at the specs but can't work it out.
Thanks

An old B-Class.
Probably don't want to be mucking about with text messages while driving. :) However, I imagine your car does have the facility (and CarPlay) - my 2012 SLK had it!

You could ask your dealer!
Personally, I would take any answers with the proverbial pinch ... but that's just me.

No agreed! But it's just a feature I like to have. Thanks very much!

To be fair - I used it in my SLK a couple of time to view messages but it is very distracting - you have to take your eyes off the road to read the message on the screen. With Carplay you can reply as well and that is probably even worse than a phone conversation (even with hands free).

Yeah I've got it on my current car so all good, I know it wouldn't work whilst moving - I tend to use it to tell my mum I'm on my way (using the pre programmed messages) when I'm about to leave my car port but my bag is in the back with my phone. Sorry for the detail but to reassure you! :)

MY16 E220d Premium
Hello Laura,

I have MY16 E220d Premium and I have it.
And if you use carplay, it picks even WhatsApp, reads it out and asked if you want to say a reply.

I believe that on your car, you have the newer version of MBUX, but that should not make any difference, if not making it better

I would be very surprised if it didn't have MBUX. It was introduced mid/late 2018 :)

... and it's really annoying when it asks if you'd like to hear your last so-many messages read out.

I am coming round to the view that all external communication should involve stopping the car. Anything else is a potential danger.
