Ml 270 CDi, 0:confused:4 plate. There I am sitting in it with the engine running after just starting it and as I start to drive along, from the passenger side ( around the lower half of the dash ) comes a noise I can only describe as a trapped budgie. Stopped the car and the noise continued for a few minutes. No sign of any budgie as yet .

Was an E300TD, now a Lexus LS400
I'm cagey about recommending anything here. You could give it some beans and get a quick trill, but that might end up with you in front of the beak for speeding.

I would say it is the ECU cooling fan. If you do a search there are several posts as I had a similar problem. there is a new design of bearing on the latest fans, but I managed to get away with a few applications of WD.
