Well, took it to work today. This is the car sold as being pretty undriveable.

And it was fine! Was apprehensive as breaking down is not on many folk's to do list but started fine, and did the 7 miles to work and back without a murmur - and this was it covered in heavy frost this morning, and damp as anything on the way home.

Strange. Not complaining mind. Love the drive, really solid. Lovely steering and no rattles or clonks. Not bad for less than £500 bought and MOT'd! No doubt things well not be well for too long but good so far. Couple of other things to attend to - passenger window doesn't work and fiddly stuff but all in good time.

Lucky though -best keep away from others when the wine has been downed! :)

Well the car managed 20 years with no real problem so no reason not to last a further 20, pleased it was all good :D:D

True Paul. That has happened before and shakes all faith. But it went well. Have always been a fan of the 124 coupe (and wagons) so nice to get one, even if it is not a minter by a long way.

Thanks Malcolm. It had the dreaded head rebuild at some point but with that done, I hope to get a few miles out of it.

Ooh! Another Lancia loon!

I can spot a Thesis at 1000 paces my good man

However, the username was the obvious giveaway.

I just know I've seen that username on another forum too.

Had 3 Thema Turbos ( 1x 8V,2 x 16v) and a 92 integrale.

Glad you're liking the 24! Must drive one some day

Steve:)

Good man! Thesis lived with me very briefly but the complexity of it and lack of support for it made me see sense. Living north of the middle of nowhere, there are no MB specialists here of any worth, never mind showing up with a Thesis!

Have had umpteen Lancias over the years, Themas (14), Kappas (2), Gamma, Monte, Flavia coupes. Basically ran out of ones "to do" and sadly the Flaminia Coupe is way too expensive these days. Grim to look back to the early 90s when a good one could be had for £6k!

So, got the SL around 3 years ago and the 124 Coupe last month. I love the way these cars are put together - although the SL has had it's moments with the roof and ASR.....

Nice to "meet" a like minded nut!! :D

I had a Thema Turbo too, great car but go let it go after Lancia pulled out of the UK.
