ticking noise

upon starting my car, I hear a ticking noise which increases with the revs, any ideas

Could it be the valve marked MOT under the bonnet above the N/S wheel arch ?

Have the CIA planted a bomb under the car?... Have you inherited a Grandfather clock and forgotten it's in the boot?...

Which side is the ticking and is it there when the ignition is on only without engine running ?

It could be worn camshaft or more likely a hydraulic tappet. You need to listen with the bonnet up and determine where it is coming from. Top of the engine = camshaft/tappet.

sounds expensive,but sounds like its coming from underneath the car,will check later,but stops when warmed up
