We have a 94 L E220, When does the timing belt/chain need replacing? The car has a MB FSH and has done around 46000 miles.

Thanks

Timing Chains/Belts

Hi Tanvir,

There is no recommended time for timing chain replacemnt. If the timing chain becomes noisy. Thats when it should be replaced. Otherwise especially on your vehicle it should last the life of the vehicle.

If you are somebody who can't keep their hands to themselves and has to tinker. Then think about it at 100k.

For those of you reading this thinking you need to change your t\chains at 100k. This is NOT the case. Trouble is a lot of you try to fix what ain't broke.

Regards

You have put my mind at rest. And i leave the tinkering to those that know what they are doing.
