Towing hook strength

bit of an odd question I know, but how strong is the towing hook welded to the frame of a 124- good enough to pull another (small) car from parked without damage (to my car that is )?

well if it strong enough to allow your car to be towed using it, it must be strong enough to to tow something smaller using it surely?

I assume when you say parked, you're saying handbrake on and poss in gear. Is the offending motor blocking a driveway?
Just do it gently - not floored with a slack towrope and it should be fine. I wouldn't go quite as far as Mr Haggis - after all, it is intended to be used with the wheels free, not locked, but it isn't that hard to break the traction of most cars and drag them along - done it a few times!.
