Towing hook strength

bit of an odd question I know, but how strong is the towing hook welded to the frame of a 124- good enough to pull another (small) car from parked without damage (to my car that is ;))?

well if it strong enough to allow your car to be towed using it, it must be strong enough to to tow something smaller using it surely?

I assume when you say parked, you're saying handbrake on and poss in gear. Is the offending motor blocking a driveway?
Just do it gently - not floored with a slack towrope and it should be fine. I wouldn't go quite as far as Mr Haggis - after all, it is intended to be used with the wheels free, not locked, but it isn't that hard to break the traction of most cars and drag them along - done it a few times!.
