towing info required

i,m thinking of towing a caravan which weighs approx 900kgs, i have a 1998 E200 saloon, has anyone else towed this sort of weight with a E200?and if so does it tow alright, any help /info would be appreciated has i dont want to cause the engine or gearbox to give up the ghost,many thanks.

I personally wouldn't reccomend it.

E200 4-cyl engine is very low on power and crucially and very low no torque - the engine struggles to just pull the car itself, let alone an additional 900 kg.

Once or two towing trips may not do much harm but regular towing will impact.

I'd personally rent a car to tow the caravan.
