Dear All,

Two issues I'd be glad to hear views on.
My car is a 2006 E220cdi (W211) 143k. A couple of days ago I was driving slowly through a village and when I went to speed up again the car wouldn't gain speed or increase RPM -it seemed like it was stuck in a high gear. I changed manually but when I put it back to auto same thing again. It was only when I stopped and re-started the engine that things came back to normal. There haven't been any problems since and the box seems to be operating fine. Gearbox oil was changed 33k miles ago.

I notice of late that when the car starts from cold it puts on the battery protection warning from time to time although the battery itself seems fine.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Brian.

I would not worry at this stage, these odd blips can happen, never to be repeated, possible low voltage issue.

When these dual battered cars are only used for short runs, they do need a good charge once a month, I had to on my SL if not doing many decent runs.

these cars can shut down pulling 8 amps for some time before they finally go to sleep
