Dave i also had a H reg Triumph 2000 M2 with twin Stromburgs on . One of the nicest cars i have had,, it only had 14.000 miles on the clock . One owner car,, that belonged to a very good friend of mine. Who at the time was promoted to transport manager at his firm. My friend was then given a brand new Ford Granada gia to drive around in . And the Triumph was put in his sisters garage for safe keeping . Untill i purchased it from him, it also had a full service history .

Funny. About the same time my BIL got promoted and they gave him a Granada that had been used for a month by a director who left. I don’t recall if it was ‘ordinary’ or a Ghis but I do particularly remember the leg room sitting in the back as well as the “oomph” that came with it.

They did make good large cars... they were quite distinctive and the only thing wrong with them was they had F-O-R-D on the front!

My BIL blew the engine on the M6 3-4 months later. The firm sent it for repair and the lease co brought him another new one next day!

Well, that's a good choice - Triumph personnel were the best in the business. The parts support staff would do anything to help.

The rights to the marque are held by BMW - I often wondered, once Rover had been flogged to the Chinese, why they didn't do a reincarnation trick and use it on a UK-made sports (or at least "sporty") car - the name alone would sell a few thousand per annum!

Cheers Dave :)

BMW said that they have no intention of resurrecting the Triumph name in their near or distant future, but never say never :)
