Good morning all,got a quick question ❓,I have a 1998 w210 e280 v6 ,I want to connect a trickle charger I believe there's a connection in the engine bay with a positive battery sign but I haven't got that so slightly unsure of connection location,also has any body know where I can buy a new/2nd hand plastic cover please

Battery is under the seat in the back,but where's the engine bay positive battery connection I think it is on the right but not sure as missing the plastic cover with battery positive on it

Positive connection is normally left side of engine on E classes with a red cover which slides back.
Also a ground earth connection on the left strut inside the engine compartment.
Mine is wired up now.

I suppose it depends on how you interpret left or right. Sitting in the car (which is the general convention), my battery jump start connections are on the right ;)

Thanks so very much,as I said I appear to be missing the plastic cover,but I've managed to get one ,but trickle charger can now be connected cheers

This is the correct connection for a trickle charger on my S213.
Look for the red sliding cover and this is where you connect the positive (red) cable and the brass nut (earth) this is where you connect the negative (black) cable.

This is the correct connection for a trickle charger on my S213; however, all Mercs are the same. Look for the red sliding cover and this is where you connect the positive (red) cable and the brass nut (earth) this is where you connect the negative (black) cable.

The w210 has 2 brass round pegs and a black cover on the live . The op has lost the cover so he didn't know which was + and - . Not All the same :cool:
