Hi,

I have a mercedes C230 Kompressor, i purchased it as an alternative to my friends BMW 328i, However his car (although on paper they are identical BHP) is a lot faster than mine.

Is there any way i can make the supercharger work harder ?
I have seen electric superchargers on ebay, do they work ? will it help my mechanical if its already having air shoved into it.
What about exhaust systems ?

Anyone know of any good MB tuning places ?

Thanks
Dan

Why does it have to be as fast as your m8s?
I,m afraid to make c230k go any faster will cost big ££££££££s. There are some pulley kits available that allow the kompressor to spin faster but the ECU will require remapping whilst on a rolling road very specialised job only company i found that would attempt this were in America, only 20BHP gain
They also did kits to put bigger kompressors on, but your talking between £2500-£3500, this gave approx. 100BHP gain. but makes them extremely thirsty and will have reliability issues.
You could go for a performance exhaust but to get any benefit you would have to have a free flowing exhaust manifold this again very expensive never found a supplier for this. If you just go for a system be careful as if it has,nt got enough back pressure it could actually make it slower.
All i,ve done to mine is put a K&N Filter standard in the airbox type this has made it more responsive and slightly quicker and also believe it or not more economical.
If you want a car faster than your mates you should of bought a C36 or C43
Also i believe the 190e Cossie is quicker than a 230k to.

In case your car is a 202, here is a company still producing supercharger pulley upgrades:

Here is a club 202-er who has had a bunch of performance headers made. No dyno tests yet but he is now planning to ship international:

Here is one person's experience with having their ECU chip tuned. He seems to feel it was a good investment (you have to get toward the end of the thread to get to this information). I have read about a place in the UK that does similar:

There have been posts about K&N filters. Many people believe it is more of a psychological thing due to the different sound produced. Between the fact the filter's oil can wreck your expensive MAF and that one person who dyno'd his car before and after installation only to find it lost one bhp, you have to wonder if they are worth the investment for 202s (note I said in reference to 202s as opposed to all cars in general - other cars do show decent benefits).

My $.02,
Doug

Looking
Please don't go down the route of the 'electric supercharger' - they're as worthwhile as the fabled eBay 'resistor'.

Speak to Darrell at TorquingBHP. He's done some work on people's cars over on MBClub and knows his stuff. I imagine he'll offer something like a 20bhp increase (peak) for about £400.
