turbo conversions

hi, im new to the forum and im actually from australia, but with the technical stuff those forums aren't to flash.

anyway, play plan was to put a m104 3ltr engione in my 260e w124 but someone suggested a turbo conversion, so i was wondering if they ever made a kit for the 260e or was it just for the 300e???

Welcome in.

I've not heard of the 260 being turbo'd, but don't see why not. It will probably be easier to fit a M104 in there though. After all the body, engine bay and drivetrain were all designed with that engine in mind.

No worries, but keep us in touch? Do you have access to the workshop and parts manuals? If not it would be worth it just to compare the essentials like bellhousings on the box, wiring loom in the engine bay and so on. I always thought the 2.6 was a sleeved down 300 in any case so it should be straight forward, but I am expecting to be proved wrong any minute....

yeah the 300 is just a bigger bore,
but anyway, well i was going to swap the gearbox anyway, does merc have any decent manual boxes??

and yeah i've got one of those Gregory books, yet to have a look yet because its at my other place, i've got access to heaps of tools but as for a workshop, well im looking at a new place to rent now...
