Unbiased views!! - CLK430 Cab vs BMW 330 Cab £30Kish

I currently have a '97 SL320 which is undoubtedly the best car I've ever had.
I also have an 8 months old baby, with another on the way next yr.
I need a 4 seat motor (convertible) and would love to stick with Merc.

I am trying to decide between a used CLK430 cab and a used BMW330. I want an auto either way.
The previous shape CLK is not the most well-regarded model in the motoring press, and I assume it would depreciate quicker than the BMW.

Is it worth buying the Merc (other than for the fact that its a Merc), or is the better choice the BMW?

I'd be interested in some learned opinions.............

Well if depreciation is an issue, don't even think about buying a car less than 3 years old! I reckon about ten years is ideal for a merc - that's wehn the curve really starts to level out.
