I've JUST bought the car I have been looking for for years, a 94 w124 300td, it drives like new apart from a deep throbbing noise which seems to be coming from under the seats, it only starts at 60 mph and comes and goes in three second intervals, it's not loud and most passangers can't hear it, could it be the u.j.s on the propshaft? or do the wheels need balancing? any ideas?

You do have an intermediate bearing you could check.
If you do have to replace, the whole drive shaft must be removed, take care to line up the arrows when you put back

While you've got the prop off, replace the doughnuts each end and check the diff oil seal to see if it's leaking. It will be!
