urgent help!!!! merc c180

hi,
The car is mercedes c180 amd the oil seems to be leeking from the engine,and is making a tapping noise when you start the car.

It has an auto gearbox and the gear change is very slow and it seems to revv loudly till it does eventually change gear.

The abs light is also on...I took it to an mot place a few days ago and they couldnt find the fault!!

Can anybody help me with this?

What do you think of heynes car manuals? Are they any good??

Your car sounds very poorly and if you don't know the cause, the general rule is ... dont drive it!!!! You may well be doing more damage. Oil leak and gearbox slipping - it could be the gearbox oil in which case driving it will wreck the box.
ABS I'd be less worried about at this stage as tapping is more serious.
The car needs a good look over before you do anything as a dead gearbox could be terminal.

Forget the Haynes. It's only any use if you are a reasonably competent mechanic and from your description I suspect you're not quite there yet, plus Mercs are not the best place to start your learning process as they're rather complicated.

Where are you? - Let us know the town and someone will recommend a proper Merc indie that can take a look before you spend any real money.

also check your OVP relay, nothing to do with oil leakage but can cause strange revving in the engine
