Guys
I've got a big problem with my steering. Am sorry for posting here, but I've not had many replies in the correct section prob my fault for not explaining properly but here goes.....
A while ago I had my gear oil changed at mb Bradford who did a health check for me also and said the steering drag link was worn and needed changing.
I have then had the drag link from Gsf for 63, along with the steering drag link and idler arm repair kit.
Now I've changed the drag link and steering damper, the idler arm was ok so didn't change the bush using the repair kit though.
The problem I have is there is a knock with the engine running or not when I move the steering from side to side. Also when driving and negotiation say a left hand sweeping bend and then go to straighten the car up at approx center point there is no control on steering, as if there is play....
As you can imagine it's quite worrying.
A friend of mine who is a mechanic had a look today and said the Adler arm is fine and didn't look like needed changing but suggesting taking to a garage so it can be checked on a ramp (which I will do).
I just wanted some advice if it could be the idler or maybe more serious the box? And if it's the box has anyone had this adjusted or changed and what kind of prices they paid.
