Hi Guys,

You haven't failed me yet, and I am hoping you can help me with this one as I am new to diesels. The story is I have just bought this 240TD which I thought was a total bargain (I will fill you in on the details later) but lost power on the A34 only 2 miles from home! The speedo had been unreliable all the way home (dropping in and out) and the fuel guage was close to the end, but no light was on. The only things I can think of is that either I have run out of fuel, or the fuel filter is blocked by gunk at the bottom of the tank. I am going back in an hour or so, but I don't know how to prime the fuel. Is there a hand pump, or how is this done?
If I can't get it started then I will tow it home and look at it soon. Thanks in anticipation,

Found it! :) Cunning little piston isn't it. And luckily it was just out of fuel, and now the fuel guage is working - I'll have to watch that one. Many thanks to Andy Of Andy's Autos in Radley, Oxon, who is a star, and knows his Mercs.

No doubt I will be posting a few queries about this one in the near future... :?
