Hi all just joined today.

I am looking into getting a used sports coupe C class diesel (2005 ish) I am considering this car as I need a car which can commute to Germany 3-5 times a year and be reasonably practicable in the uk. Can anyone shed any light on what models may be better or any annoying faults etc which may not be obvious that they may have or perhaps I should consider another class and if so which model/class should I also look at? I wont be buying for another month yet so I have enough time to find the right car for me.

Many Thanks.

May.

what's your budget and are you looking at say a 220 or something like a 320?

200 or 220 are your only choices for an 05 coupe diesel

Hello and welcome, there are no problems on an 05 car, and the 220 should be the best bet

I thought the 220 was the 2.2l diesel and the 200 was the 2l diesel, however, i see the 200 has a 2149CC and the 220 has a 2148cc engine can anyone fill in where I got it wrong please?

The 200 is a detuned 220 is probably the easiest way to think of it.
Both engines are the same size.

You have not got it wrong, its all the same block and head, and it is the electronics that push the output up.

SAM put this info out recently. I have just checked on both cars and they use the same pistons in both
