Used Warranties

Hi all, I have noticed that when you buy a new MB there is a three year warranty with it, but if you buy, say a 2008 approved used car, they only offer a 12 months warranty. Surely the remainder of the three year warranty should go with the car, or I am missing something here?

Well yes, the warranty will be transferrable, so the dealer can't lose here!
Unless he is offering better terms for a year than the manuf. warranty, though what that might be??

The three year warranty stays with the car..the dealer who is offering you a 12month warranty with a pre owned car is basically selling you the proverbial pig in a poke or smoke and mirrors...

It is Mercedes Approved Used scheme, on their website, that is offering the 12 month warranty on all used cars regardless of age.

So a year old car with a three year warranty and then mercedes give you a 12 month warranty as well ..it sounds kinda confusing to me..which warranty do you use if your car breaks down or do you have a choice..

I had the best warranty ever with my merc bought second hand 3 years it evan covered ware and tear items, you should have seen the service blokes face when i went in for a new back box, mine was blowing, £485 pound inc vat he said, OK it's covered under warranty, let me see he said, his face was a picture

and a few others i can not remember evert time i went in they phoned to warranty people and got the answer yes it's OK, it would have been cheaper for them to give me a new car.

The 12 month warranty doesn't apply when there's a manufacturer's warranty so if you bought a 2008 you use be the remainder of the factory warranty. The 12 month only applies if the MF warranty is invalid or has expired so do check that there isn't some reason the original has expired.
