i recently bought my first mercedes, a 1997 v230 as i need wheelchair access, on the whole i am very happy with it but it has a problem starting when warm, it will start perfectly when cold or if restarted straight away when hot but if it is left for more than a few minutes it will struggle to start unless the throttle is held down, it can still take several tries. the plugs are sooty and the air filter is ok. i have been advised that it could be running rich due to the lambda sensor but i have had the co2 emissions checked and it is fine, it seems as though it is flooding when the engine is switched off? it runs fine once it is started but after it has been difficult it will run poorly for a short while and the tickover will be erratic, please help!

Hi,
sorry to hear you are having problems. I hope it isn't the start of many as was the case with my V-Class. I'm much happier with My wheelchair accessible T4 Caravelle.

As for the running rich and starting I would get a specialist or dealer do a diognostic check. It could be a fault with a temperature sensor or the lambda sensor.
