Hello,
As I have very little experience in engine rebuilds I'm facing a sharp learning curve.
Ive just stripped a second hand OM642 for a complete rebuild before rebuilding and installation in my GL320. The block, crank shaft, heads and cam shafts are at a machine shop for inspection etc, I stripped down the heads and am now cleaning the valves, springs etc. On the No 4 cylinder exhaust the two of the spring coils are bright with indications of contact, see photo, my question is should the spring be changed.
Secondly the springs have paint marks on them, two yellow and one white, the marks are vertically aligned on four coils at one end of the spring, can someone tell me the significance of these marks.
Thanks in advance
