Has anyone come across a Vito diesel engine suffering from carbon and diesel deposits blowing past the injectors and damaging wiring looms engine cover etc.?

After my Vito engine failed, after less than 60,000 miles in five years, I've been told that it's damaged to such an extent that it's more cost-effective to replace the entire engine. The van has a full service history (roughly every 10K), and was serviced in late July with no apparent obvious problems...

The Vito uses the same engine as the C and E220CDi in different power outputs, the 108 is 80 bhp, the 110 is 110bhp and the 112Cdi is a very impressive 122bhp. I dont understand quite what you mean by carbon and diesel blowing past the igniters? Diesel engines do not have any igniters or do you mean glow plugs or pre-heaters?

I used to have a 112Cdi and I thought it was great, I only kept it for 3 years and 50K miles and never had any problems.

Oh, a Unimog is a farm tractor isnt it? You could not class it as a car and it is hardly a truck or commercial vehicle. I suppose it is the original concept of the JCB Fastrac.

Landrover, you come across as very aggressive in the way you write things, I have noticed this a lot in your posts and am sure I am not alone. Not sure if you mean it to be that way or it is just the way it comes across.

I am actually from an agricultural background and have a great deal of experience of operating and maintaining tractors, loaders, forklifts, ploughs, combines, lorries etc including Case, Ford, John Deere, Landrover, JCB, Frazier and also a Unimog that we used as a self propelled crop sprayer.

You are unlikely to get an answer about a Unimog or Actros on this forum, you are better finding a more specific forum.

As for your dig about the ML vs a Unimog, try following the ML along some A and B roads and up the M6 in your Unimog, or try following a Defender in an ML. Totally diffrent vehicles built for different purposes.

Totally agree these are different vehicles'that is what i was telling the guy with the vito van. This is a car forum.I am not asking for advice on my unimog.I also have a defender, that is not a tractor either. It was you who started this .As for the ml it is just a four wheel drive car that is useless off road . I don't know why you are telling me to try another form .I was not asking about anything.I was only answering a post ...... .
