vito 110cdi starting

hi all got a vito110cdi 51plate been great but now its playing up runs sound but when you come to start it it takes a long time to fire then it trys to fire then it catches and fires then runs great no missing or anythink like that!! the glow plug light never gos out but its been like that for years?? was told that when that stays on then i got a glow plug down? well i was thinking would it be like this if 2 or may be 3 plugs are down?? :???: ow and its had a new fillter

I suspect either air is leaking into the fuel system or an injector is leaking off too much.
