W114/115 - Buyers Guides Available?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a Buyers Guide for the W114/5 series cars? I ask as am tempted by a Coupe, and want to know what I'm looking for with them, what their weaknesses are, where they rot out of sight, and so on.

Anyone able to point me in the direction of such a thing online?

Alternatively, and one out there got one (Or even better both modesl!) and can share their knowledge with me?

Hi, I've got both and they suffer from similiar problems. The main thing to look for is rust in the following areas:
Engine bulkhead/plenum subsequently the front floorpans.
Boot floor.
Inner,outer rear wheelarches.
Sills.
Door bottoms.
Inner front guards.
Top of wings over the headlights.

Check that the heater and blower both work as they are difficult to get at to repair.
Unless you can do the welding yourself, you're probably best to spend the cash up front and get a really good original example or one which has already been restored.
