Is it a straightforward job to swap a 102 series 2 litre engine from a W123 200 into a W123 230 that presently has the old straight six engine (aluminium rocker cover type)?

I know that Merc swaps are supposed to be relatively simple, but will all the engine extras fit etc? Have a full donor 200 with very sweet engine, auto box; everything except shell in very good nick..

Any idea how many hours labour is involved (so I can estimate cost of job). I'm in Dublin btw.

Straight 6 sounds like a 280. Procedure should be simple enough. Depending on your lifting equipment you may have to split the engine from the gearbox. You may have carburettor fuel system on the 200 and a fuel injection system on the 230. Best check to see if the fuel pumping arrangement is different.

I would allow a day to swap the engines over.

Be prepared for a dramatic reduction in power.

Thanks for that, Tim. Maybe I'm wrong about it being a 6-cyl, it is probably a 4-cyl. Just looked 'long' if you know what I mean.
