W123 Specifications and Owners opinions required

I am seriously thinking of buying a 1982/83 280CE but before committing myself would like to know a lot more about the specification, options, running costs and owner (current and previous) opinions.

Is there a website specifically for the W123 range and in particular the 280 CE coupe?

Should I be looking for a 230CE rather than a 280 as I have heard the engine is smoother and a lot better regarding fuel consumption?

Previously I have posted a couple of messages enquiring about tappet noise and fuel consumption but the responses (which I have been very grateful for) have not been specific to the 280CE.

Any help/comments would be gratefully received.

I have at various times owned all the petrol W123s and can report that the 200 was very slow, the 280 quite sprightly but an already old engine when the 123 was launched with a consumption to make your eyes water and the much newer engined 230 a really nice compromise with an engine that never gave me any trouble, was reasonably quick and economical. I can't comment on the diesels, though the 240 was built to last but very slow to wind up.
