Hi guys,

I've heard of the W210 having a gearbox with W & S on it. Is that the same as the S & E?

I have tried the car in both and would love the car to take off in 2nd gear, especially given the recent weather. I can't seem to get any traction in the car unless I put it in 2nd hold and rev it hard... Not very fuel efficient!

My Dad's old W124 300TE24 Sportline had Traction Control so is it possible to retrofit it?

Any information on gaining traction would be excellent.

All 124 boxes are a second gear start with kick down into first.

The change points both up and down are much higher in S than E, so not quite the same as on the 722.6 box.

I do not know if you have tried it, but stamp on the throttle when starting, and it will take off like a rocket

Rear wheels spin normally! End up with the speedo pointing at 60mph before I even set off if I tread on it!

And the E280 DEFINATELY uses all four gears from set off. I've tried it... Uphill, down hill, S, E and everything.

I've counted them changing...

You can just feel the change if you concentrate.

I think the facelift ones pull away in first; the pre-facelift in second. Could be wrong though. This seems to be the trend that I've had with mine.

The snowchain button on the 560 means mine pulls away in second when depressed, I don't know how this works though.

Dad's 300TE24 H plate did, as did his 230TE.

His S500 use to take off in 2nd as well
