300TE Battle Wagon

While driving home from Chritmas I pulled up at a roundabout, went to pull away and had no forward drive! Reverse works fine. i called the AA and had my car recovered to an auto gearbox specialist where it has been for a week until they opened. My basic knowlage of auto box sugested the forward cluch band had gone  ...I now know I was right. My question is as the box needs to come out I might as well have the whole thing reconditioned as suggested by the garage and if this is done what parts need to be replaced...appart from the cluch band/s? Is there anything that is common or a weak point. The car is a 1990 300te with 154000 miles and before this happened the box was 100%. Clean fresh smelling oil, no slip, flare or grief. Filter and oil have been changed every 30,000 miles and I thought I was doing well. The re-con the garage suggest will cost cica £1500. Is this steep and what should I expect for this price? The garage has done very good work on a friends car (and rare auto motorbike so I am not worried about thier ability) Im just in the dark as to what can be, and needs/ should be changed during a recon. Thanks for your help. PS this is not the same gearbox as refered to in my early posts.
