What type is the ordinary one? Is it a fibre type and what does it do (or not do)?

I was recently given a very battered w124 230E with a warped head due to jammed thermostat so I have this yet to do. I suspect the head will have to be skimmed. (Are you getting pinking or something?)

I may be wrong but a dealer would not supply 'unmodded gaskets' - they would provide the correct standard for your engine type. I would not have thought 10 thou would be so critical on CR either but maybe dealer could advise on a gasket for a skimmed head.

Hi

I would double check that the cyl head has not been skimmed before. You engineer should be abould to check the cyl head height to make sure its with in servicable requirements.

If you having problems with it continual blowing. I would check the surface of the cylinder block.

Have you tried a specialist turbo converter? They would probably be able to advise.

I know that these guys have a good reputation with commercial vehicle conversions (motor homes / vans etc) so it's not quite the same sort of thing but the chances are that they'd be able to point you in the right direction of someone who could provide you with a suitable gasket.

Your Mercedes
A diesel
I would go for making your own by hand out of a copper sheet, which is what a manufacturer will do anyway.

You will need a suitable sealant to create a good haermetic seal.

Try these people. They sell gaskets and a sealant. US but have a UK agent in Derby.
