W124 - Instrument lights not working

and have you tried squinting at them while repeatedly turning the dimmer knob to see if they even flicker? at night?

yes, i have no lights. Its strange it use to work fine. No problems before

The ashtray illumination comes from pin 13 Grey/ white

I was right when I said that there is a lamp module for cars that have electric windows and heated seats.

another fault has just come to me. the dimmer control uses a ballast resistor, and consequently gets very hot when the lights are dimmed. i have known the soldered contacts on the brass strip on the back come unsolder-ed.

Not with the module fitted,,that is the purpose of it, to take away the high current..

Thanks, very useful. The guy at MB Brentford said the same thing he said the whole unit sells for £19.50. I'll Try and have a look, Im off to Dubai on Sat. Thanks guys for all your help, I'll keep you updated.

Hi, Its been a while, finally got it fixed, at the back of the dimmer the connection came loose. Just needed a quick solder. Thanks to all that helped
