Recently the accelerator pedal on my 230TE seems harder to modulate and stiffer. This isnt noticable at speed, but leads to embarrasing moments around town, and especially with friends in the car! jerky inputs cant be kind to the autobox either. Is it possible to lubricate the cable or is outright replacement best? Are W124s known for stiff throttles or is something up here?

Kind regards

Matthew

Hi Mathew,,its worth slipping out the inner cable, if damaged frayed replace it, if not use plenty of PTFE or silicon spray on it and it should be fine,, used to be a common problem,
