I wondered whether anyone might beable to help with a query. I've been looking into buying a W124 and am fairly settled on the idea of a 1994 or 1995 E220 as it would appear to offer a sensible performance/economy blend. Then I noticed several W124's advertised as 1998 and 1999, and yet I thought the model ceased production in 1995.

I'm guessing these newer ones may be imports, not that the ads mention that? If so, were they built to the same standard as the original ones?

Thanks to anyone who might beable to shed some light.

87 to sept 92 was the first batch of 124, the second series from sept 92 to 95 was the end of one of the best cars ever made, there were a few wiring problems on some cars, once modified they are Great.

They are probably the ones imported back fom Asia when the economy went pear-shaped there in the 90's.

There were lots of new unsold Merc W124s.

The Asians usually buy the smaller engined cars due to their tax structure.

So, the cars you are seeing are probably pucka.
