I just bought, what i thought was a bargain 300d, 1992. I knew it needed some work, like discs and pads, but the engine is sweet as a nut, i just got 350miles out of half a tank, which is not too shabby at all! But on inspection underneath the rear of the car, one of the arms has lierally torn away from the body, but is still connected to the wheel hub. The arm itself is black, circular about an inch in diameter and has a couple of bends in it. It doesnt look like a major arm, but it has torn away, never the less. What i wanted to know was whether or not this was common and if anyone knew how much it should cost to repair.
Also, I have booked the car into WDM, in Birmingham, to have the initial problems sorted, has anyone any experience of these guys, they have been extremely helpful thus far.

Sounds like a mount for the rear antiroll bar has broken or rusted away. I'd replace the ARB bushes while the job is being done

Wicked, thanks, do you know if its a big job, price wise? I really want to keep the car, but dont want to be financially crippled.

Impossible to say till it's been on a ramp & looked at

It's a relatively small job but I suspect the mounts will be a swine to get to. So the labour charge will likely be greater than any parts cost

I'd just like to say that it is a relief to speak to suchdown to earth people on another forum, i have been a long member on e36coupe.com, having moved from a BMW. I hope that i'm as happy in my Benz as i was in my E36.
