Hey guys, I need your opinions and expertise on an issue with my recently purchased A200. Mileage: 24k

There’s a whining sound that comes on every time I press on the accelerator pedal. Seems to be louder when I press harder in the accelerator. But stops immediately when I take my foot off the gas. Almost like a turbo whine but more “windy”? I’m having trouble pinpointing what is it and the local garage I went to couldn’t diagnose too.

The sound is coming from somewhere under the passenger side dashboard (I think) but difficult to say. Car drives like normal. No loss of power or change in fuel economy.

When put in “Park” and revs, it doesn’t make that sound.

I’ve been reading similar cases online and some seem to be a turbo/intercooler hose leak? I have zero knowledge on these so I’d be grateful for any opinions you have. Is it very serious?

Please see video in the link:

Thank you so much for any help or suggestions at all!

Initially I would have said that its a differential issue, but at 24k miles I wouldn't be so sure.
I'd expect a wheel bearing to always make the noise.
I'd expect a leaking intercooler hose leak to effect power and trigger an EML.
It's likely that when not in gear and stationary the turbocharger isn't engaged when revving the engine.
Take a drive with a passenger, in the front and then in the back, see where they think the noise is coming from.

I take it that there weren't any codes stored, not all light the EML.

Sounds like a boost leak to me. Needs to be fairly bad to trigger codes but small leaks can be noisy. Even around manifold.
