W201 320 cdi alternator pulley clutch??

Hi all my car is making a horrendous noise at tic over my local money stealer of a dealer says the clutch on the alternator pulley is shot?? Does it have a clutch on the pulley and if so do these give problems. He wants £160+VAT to supply and fit the pulley is this expensive thanks.

Hello,

Yes your alternator has a clutch on the pulley and yes they do play up.
Price dosent sound to bad to me but ring around

By the way, there is a error with your model posting!!! w201 is a old 190!
