Am changing the cam followers.. The camshafts have no timing marks. Would like to know what position should the first cylinder cam lobes be facing

Is that the M111 engine (first three numbers of engine number)?

Cams are locked and setup using pins.

Pin goes in the hole here, one for each cam.

From memory you put the crank at 20 degrees after tdc to get the pins in. The intake cam may take some joggling because of the cam timing adjuster. If you are a little unfamiliar with this engine you need to be aware of the proceedure for refitting the chain tensioner. It’s very easy to get it wrong and snap the intake cam. Hundreds of people have made this mistake

Thanks for the info.
You’re very welcome. Do look up the information on the chain tensioner. It must be stripped completely and refitted to the engine one piece at a time. If you remove it as a unit and refit it the same way the chain will be way overtight and the camshaft will snap within a very short time. I’m happy to give more info if you need it

Thanks for that again. I will do that.
Regarding the timing holes on my intake side the is two holes on the cam gear. The small one being 4mm and not so deep. The other is the same as the exhaust cam. I assume I use the one which is the same hole as the exhaust cam.
