I've loved my car for the last nine years but my mechanic is told me that the timing belt is loose and will eventually fail leaving the car a write off.
I understand this is a common problem for this engine and he quoted approximately £1000 for parts and labour plus VAT.
His recommendation was to just drive into the ground and scrap it when the engine fails.
Is there anything I can do to slow down this process?
Is that a reasonable price for the repair?
