Thanks. I think I'll just clean off the magnets and connectors for now since I don't have codes relating to it at the moment and continue to monitor for codes/ further leaks.Well you already have the wire extension blockers with the green tabs on so the wiring is safe from oil wicking along into the engine ECU which is a common M271 engine issue .
You do need to change the cam magnets though because when there is enough oil in the electrical plug you will get fault codes I believe , or at least that’s what happened to me last year

What codes are you getting? I have been living with intermittent engine light for about 18 months now. Same codes each time points to the MAF which I have changed. Rubber pipe in the engine bay from... can't actually remember it was so long ago, but members on here said it could be that. One day I will spend more time to find it. 2005 EClassI’ve had the engine check light on now for about a month on my C200 Estate 2003 with 131,000 miles. So far I’ve changed the following
1. cam shaft sensor seal and little rubber plug
2 Fitted the “ pigs tail” to avoid oil leaking into the loom.
3. Following diagnostic test( Creator reader) fitted new “ downstream” 02 sensor
4. opened and cleaned the ECU ( some oil present) plus all plugs etc
Cleared the codes and engine light goes off for about 10-12 miles and then returns. Anyone have any ideas and any assistance would be appreciated
MB do do replacement seals, but in my experience they do not always make a difference. Please examine these pics. There's a notice amount of oil under the magnets and the connectors. Is this a problem as the connector modification was done about 10 years ago? Should i just clean off oil from the connectors and magnets and forget about it, or do they need to be replaced?
