Hi All

Just pulled away from a junction and had to put my foot down. Car kick down and proceeded as normal.

Then it started running like as if it was on 2 cylinders. On idle the car was shaking like a shiver.

After rebooting (okay I am into IT!), After restarting the car it was fine.

One of my esteemed mercedes driver seems to think the EMS started flooding the engine and hence the eratic nature of the beast.

Any ideas....

To hard to say anything with it doing only once, I know that you are probably concerned, if it does it again come back. Its almost impossible to flood the engine these days.

Car has done just over 50k it is late 99 facelift model. Just done 250 miles without a hiccup.

Is a MAS sensor expensive??

MAS sensors have come down in price (they waited for me to need one, charged me full price and then felt safe to drop them for everyone else!)
Anyway, you can also often get the innards which are even cheaper.
The symptoms you describe are 'safe mode' - hence the reboot sorted it (accurate description really as the engine restart bit was irrelevant - its the ECU restart that did it!).
It's very doubtful it's flooding as the ECU always errs in the other direction. If it happens again (alright - when), either get a diagnostic done or just swap the MAS.
