Hi,

My car feels a lot underpowered at the moment. I couldn't keep up with a 1.4VW Golf at traffic lights the other day!!

From reading here, I am suspecting that the MAF could be the culprit. Before I take it apart to clean, is it possible to just disconnect it and take it out of the equation altogether just to see if it improves the performance?

If not, I wil remove it and clean.

If that does not work, I will take to the garage for diagnosis.

Cheers,

Mike.

Just un plug it, if the car comes back to life then you have the answer.

The car may run a little rough in this mode

If the MAF is faulty unplugging it will stall the engine, Cleaning it wont make a difference either, find a Bosch service center local to you and quote the bosch part number on the MAF, one number will have the MB star next to it and the other the Bosch logo. £139 ish from memory, MB will want £240 +vat
