w210 e320 cdi strange noises

My e class estate is starting its own strange noise orchestra.

firstly the main worry is the large clunking on sudden acceleration or lift off from accelerator.

it sounds like a worn hardy spicer to me and really thumps you. even more so when the gearbox is in "s" mode.

i had the drive train checked my an independant merc specialist and he could not find anything wrong with it. where should i start looking?


Also, i have a large turbo howl / whistle that sounds as if the turbo is being restricted. my dads car has the same engine and does not make the same noise.

Could this be linked to the EPC fault ive been seeing. ive heard that the MAF is usually the cause of this.

I would check the prop shaft u/j's and flexi couplings along with the center bearing

sorry this is an old thread but my e320 cdi estate has this sound and i am not sure what to look at?

is this what i want to look at from abay "Mercedes Propshaft Rubber Damper / Coupling kit. Complete with new bolts etc OE Reference: 1704100015"
