I recenly found that my battery had gone flat.
I recharged the battery on the car and as it charged up the alarm was set off. Eventually this stopped, then I noticed at buzzing noise from the electrics box at the right hand side, rear of the engine bay.

I opened the box up and moved some of the wires and the buzzing stopped.
I continued to charge the battery. When it was fully charged, I tried to start the car but it would not start. The dash panel lights up an d looks as normal but the engine does not crank when the key is turned to start.

I think it is an electronic fault but I am not sure where to start. I am good with elecronics and have a multimeter etc but have no circuit infomation.

Can anyone help?

This was caused by water entering the waterproof ECU box and caused dammage to the engine ecu anf assocated connectors.

Try your spare key.

If not that I suspect the ignition switch as gone down.

have you checked the fuses?

Thanks for you reply.

Unfortunately the problem is due to water, that got in to the ecu box.
The ecu is suspect and the connectors have been damaged.

I am still amazed that this could have happened.

A MB dealer quoted me circa 1500 pounds to repair.
