Hi all,
I know this has been discussed many times and I have looked at historic threads but am still left wondering....
Basically I have a 175k miles E220 cdi which was a little clattery on cold start and typically noisy for a diesel...so I popped in some diesel injector cleaner.
Now what I normally do is exceed the recommendation and use a 4 tank supply in an almost empty tank - have done this for many years and never ever had a problem - always been left with a quieter engine thats smoother, possibly a tiny amount more oomph (may just be me imagining) and def better economy.
So with this W211 I did the same and immediately found spectacular results - engine was so quiet that it was hard to know if it was on...fab.. or so I thought...
Now, a week later it seems to have gotten a lot more clattery and noisier than before until it is hot at which point it does quieten down a little to almost pre additive level...
So overall, no improvement and possibly worse on start up...
Any thoughts?
