W211 E320cdi ball joints

Anyone know if its possible to replace just the bottom ball joints (not the full arm) on a 2003 model E320cdi? Local auto shop is saying I have to replace full arm (£90) however it appears that certainly for 2006 models part number A211 3300435 does the job. Does this fit earlier models as well?

All 211 lower ball joints are replacable seperate.

I am quite sure the joint is the same for all the 211, they are pressed in and out in situation.

Thanks for that. Not sure whether to attempt fitting myself. Is it a difficult job?

Hi,
I seem to remember reading a thread somewhere that there were recall issues regarding lower ball joints on a 211, something about them being supplied by 2 different manufacturers and one manufacturers slipping standards involving all cars fitted with these ball joints having them replaced F.O.C. by MB. It might be worth talking to MB as yours might fall into this catagory.

Thats the torque arm joint!!!!

The lower ball joints press in/out of the stub axle as I said.

Good timing!! I have just removed wheel to look at job and mistook torque arm joint for lower ball joint. Was just going to pack up till I viewed your new post.Will prob have a go at this tomorrow.

There is a mercedes tool used to press them out/in. You will struggle to do it without this.
