On my way out this evening there was a loud 'whoos' noise and loss of power. A little further i popped the bonnet and fond that the intercooler hose just near to the air filter had become diconneted.I pushed it back in as best i could and limped home.
My question is:
is this common? and does it signal any other woes, ie should the intercoller come off and be washed out ? does it need to have new retainer clips ? the vehicle has 90 k miles and has always been faultless
any suggestions welcome
many thanks

After some more investigation it seems that the plastic housing at the turbo is damaged where the retaing clip locates , see very porr pics, also the aluminium pips on the collar of the hose are quite worn where they have been acting like a piston when the boost comes on.
Suggestion needed, the pressure pipe is OK it not split or leaking, should i replace this at the same time, would MB be the best place to get the plastic housing from
many thanks

Common as muck, i will have the hose sitting in the shed. i keep all the boost hoses as they all split over time!

I replaced the plastic elbow, checked the rubber hose,it looked in good order, the little raised 'pips' around the aluminium collar showed some wear, made sure everything was A OK and put it all back together without replacing the hose.
Now a couple of months latter the ****** thing has 'poped' out of the intercooler end this time .
I spent a lot off time making sure that everything was OK and the clip was seated correctly when i put it back together, i even took the intercooler off to give it a clean out and check the connections .
Logic says replace the hose now
Have you come across this ?
the car has done 90 ood K

The stragest thing is on both ocassions its failed it has been on the way to my favorite pub, i wonder if that has anything to do with it ?

after taking it off, it looks as if the retaining feature has now worn through and opend up like a sardine can , see picture.

Disconneted the lever to the turbo wastegate and that seems free enough so presume it not stuck shut anything else is should check
many thanks
